Okay, guys, so today I wanted to mess around with drawing a football. I’ve seen a bunch of tutorials online, and it seemed like a fun little project. So, I grabbed my sketchbook and a pencil and got started.

First, I drew a vertical line right down the middle of the page. This was going to be my guide for the whole thing. I made sure it went from the top of where I wanted the football to be to the bottom. Nothing fancy, just a straight line.
Next, I tried to draw an oval around that line. It was a bit tricky to get it symmetrical, but after a few tries, I got something that looked okay. I kept the length of the oval the same as my first line, just to keep things proportional. You know, so it wouldn’t look all wonky.
After that, I sketched in two curved lines on each side of the oval, kind of like they were hugging the middle line. These were going to be the sides of the football. I made sure they met at the ends of the oval, creating that classic football shape.
Then came the fun part – the rings! I drew two rings, one on each end of the football, using those curved lines as a guide. They kind of looked like little rainbows or something, facing each other. It was starting to look like a real football!
- Draw a vertical line
- Draw an oval
- Sketch in two curved lines
- Draw two rings
With the basic shape done, I added in the edges that connect the top and bottom parts of the football. These were just short, straight lines connecting the ends of the rings to the main body of the football. I erased some of the guidelines that I didn’t need anymore. Clean up the mess a little bit.

Finally, I drew the laces. I just did a simple crisscross pattern down the middle of the football. It wasn’t perfect, but hey, it looked like laces! It added that final touch that really made it look like a football.
And there you have it! My very own hand-drawn football. It wasn’t as easy as some of those tutorials made it look, but I had a blast doing it. It’s not a masterpiece or anything, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. Maybe I’ll try drawing a basketball next time, who knows?
My thoughts
This whole drawing thing is pretty relaxing. It’s a nice way to unwind and just let your mind wander. Plus, it’s cool to see something you created come to life on paper, even if it’s just a simple football. I encourage you all to give it a try sometime. You might surprise yourself!
