Alright, so the other day, I was thinking about getting into the African basketball scene. You know, I’ve been following the NBA for years, but I wanted to see what’s up on the other side of the globe. So, I decided to dive into the Basketball Africa League (BAL).

First things first, I had to figure out how this whole thing works. Turns out, it’s a pretty big deal. They’ve got 12 teams from all over Africa, and they all had to earn their spot through their own local competitions. The season runs from March to June – that’s good to know. Seven teams get in automatically, and the other five have to battle it out in something called the “Road to BAL”.
- Started digging around for information about the league.
- Figured out the season schedule and how teams qualify.
Now, I needed to find some scores. I mean, what’s the point of following a league if you can’t keep up with the games, right? I started hitting up some sports websites, and it wasn’t that hard to find what I was looking for. There are a few sites that have live scores, results, and standings all in one place. It’s pretty convenient, honestly. You can get real-time updates, which is awesome when you can’t watch the games live.
- Looked for websites that provide scores and updates.
- Found a couple of reliable sources for live scores and results.
While I was at it, I stumbled upon some interesting tidbits about the league. Apparently, basketball is huge in Rwanda. There are courts everywhere, and tons of kids are playing. It’s cool to see how popular the sport is over there. I also learned that the BAL is headquartered in Dakar, Senegal. It’s a collaboration with the NBA, which is pretty neat. It’s like they’re building something special over there, you know? It marked the NBA’s first collaboration to operate a league outside North America.
- Learned about the popularity of basketball in Rwanda.
- Discovered that the BAL is headquartered in Dakar and is an NBA collaboration.
Getting into the Money
Okay, so here’s where it gets interesting. I was curious about how much these guys get paid. I found out that the average salary is somewhere between $4,000 and $7,000 per month. Not bad, right? But the best players can make around $35. That’s a pretty decent chunk of change. And the best players receive approximately $35. It’s good to know that they’re getting compensated well.
- Researched player salaries in the BAL.
- Found out the average and top-earner salaries.
I also saw some news about recent games. There was this team, Nairobi City Thunder, that made it to the 2025 BAL. They won some big game against Kriol Star. Sounds like they’re a team to watch. And another team, AZUR, just won a game against Global. It’s fun to see who’s doing well and who’s not.

- Read news about recent games and standout teams.
- Kept an eye on teams like Nairobi City Thunder and AZUR.
So, yeah, that’s my little adventure into the Basketball Africa League so far. It’s been pretty interesting, and I’m definitely going to keep following it. I mean it let me know the basketball in Africa is on the rise, and it’s exciting to see what’s going to happen next. Who knows, maybe I’ll even catch a game live someday. That would be something, wouldn’t it?
- Decided to continue following the BAL.
- Expressed excitement about the future of the league.
