So, I got this idea stuck in my head a while back about gathering pictures related to games and sports. Not really sure why, just felt like something practical to do, maybe build up a small visual library for myself. You know, sometimes you just need to look at something specific for inspiration or just to remember how something looked.

Getting Started
First thing I did was just start searching around. Spent a good few evenings just browsing different places online, looking for interesting shots. Action photos from sports, maybe some cool scenes from video games, character art, that sort of thing. Didn’t have a super strict plan, just saved whatever caught my eye. I grabbed screenshots sometimes, other times saved images directly if they were available.
Pretty quickly, my download folder became a total mess. Just a huge pile of random image files. It was obvious I needed some kind of system, otherwise, the whole thing would be useless.
The Sorting Effort
This turned out to be the most time-consuming part. I decided to break it down. Made main folders like Sports and Games. Okay, easy enough.
But then inside ‘Sports’, I thought, should I sort by sport? Like:
- Basketball
- Soccer
- Tennis
- Others
And inside ‘Games’, maybe by genre? Or style? Like:

- Fantasy Art
- Sci-Fi Scenes
- Character Close-ups
- Pixel Art
I spent hours just dragging files around, renaming them with basic descriptions. Like ‘basketball_dunk_*’ or ‘fantasy_landscape_*’. It felt a bit tedious, honestly. Some pictures didn’t fit neatly into any category, so I made a ‘Misc’ folder which, let’s be honest, is where things go to be forgotten.
What I Was Using
Didn’t use anything fancy. Just my regular computer, the file explorer, and a basic image viewer to quickly check the pictures. I thought about using some special software for organizing images, but it seemed like overkill for what I needed. Wanted to keep it simple.
Some Hassles
Finding high-quality pictures was sometimes tricky. Lots of stuff out there is small or has watermarks plastered all over it. And I really underestimated how much time just sorting and naming would take. Plus, these image files start eating up hard drive space faster than you’d think, especially the bigger ones.
Where It’s At Now
So, what did I end up with? Basically, a moderately organized collection of folders filled with pictures. It’s not perfect, and I haven’t really used them for a big project yet. It’s more like a personal digital scrapbook right now. I poke through it occasionally when I’m bored or looking for a specific type of image.
Was it worth the effort? Hard to say. It was an interesting little exercise in organizing digital stuff. Kept me busy for a bit. Maybe one day I’ll find a real solid use for this collection I put together. For now, it just sits there on my drive, a folder full of games and sports pictures.
