Okay, so I’ve been trying to get this whole “Sarah Sports Academy” thing off the ground. It’s been… a process, let me tell you.
First, I brainstormed like crazy. What sports? What age groups? What kind of vibe did I want? I scribbled on notepads, filled up whiteboards, even used sticky notes all over my kitchen wall. It was chaotic, but it helped me narrow things down.
Figuring Out the Basics
- Decided on focusing on kids aged 6-14.
- Chose three core sports: soccer, basketball, and swimming. Seemed like a good mix, you know?
- Wanted a positive, encouraging atmosphere. No crazy competitive pressure, just fun and skill-building.
Then came the fun part – finding a location! I drove around, checked out local parks, community centers, even a few empty fields. Finally, settled on the old community center. It needed some work, sure, but it had good bones and a decent-sized field.
Next up: paperwork. Ugh. Permits, insurance, liability forms… it was a mountain of stuff. I spent hours on the phone, filled out countless online forms, and basically became best friends with the printer. Not glamorous, but gotta do it.
Getting the Word Out
I designed some simple flyers – nothing fancy, just the basics. Printed them out and stuck them up at local stores, the library, anywhere parents might see them. Also made a basic social media page, started posting there. Slow going, but it’s something.
The first few sign-ups were… well, let’s just say it was a small group. But hey, everyone starts somewhere, right? I focused on making those first sessions awesome. Lots of games, positive feedback, and just trying to make it fun for the kids.
It’s still early days. I’m learning as I go, making mistakes, and celebrating the small wins. Seeing those kids smile, though? That makes all the hassle worthwhile. It is fulfilling to witness them.
