So, the other day I was itching for a good basketball game. You know, just wanted to shoot some hoops, get a little sweat going. But I didn’t know where to go. I live in a new area, so I wasn’t familiar with the local spots. So I thought, “Hey, let’s find a basketball stadium near me.”

First thing I did, naturally, was pull out my phone and start Googling. I typed in “basketball courts near me” and a whole bunch of stuff popped up. There were websites, maps, lists, you name it. It was a little overwhelming, honestly.
I started clicking around, checking out different websites. One site called “Courts of the World” seemed pretty cool. It listed a bunch of courts in Sydney with ratings and distances. They were all outdoor courts, which was fine by me, I mean, the weather is getting better, so it is great to be outdoors. There was one just 0.4 miles away, another 0.6 miles away, and a few more a little further out. That was good to know. That is really close to my home!
Then I stumbled upon another site called “Localsearch.” It had reviews and photos, which was helpful. Seeing pictures of the courts made it easier to picture myself there. Some of them looked a bit run-down, but others looked pretty decent.
I kept digging and found a basketball court finder map with player reviews and ratings. That was super useful! It showed both indoor and outdoor courts. I love indoor courts during the cold winter days, but I think I prefer outdoor, when the weather is good. I prefer the fresh air!
There was this one place called Kevin Betts Stadium that caught my eye. It sounded big – two full-size courts, a meeting room, and it was accessible. It also described itself as a “clean, friendly environment.” That sounded perfect!

After browsing for a while, I finally decided to just go for it. I figured the best way to find a good court was to actually check them out in person.
I ended up going to a community center I found online. There was a basketball court right next to a soccer field, and it was packed! People were playing pickup games from early morning ’til late at night. It was a little intimidating at first, but everyone was super chill, and it seemed like they didn’t care if you were a local or not, as long as you could play.
So I jumped into a game, and it was awesome! I mean, the court wasn’t perfect – a little rough around the edges – but the competition was good, and everyone was having a great time. It is a great time to meet new friends there as well! We have similar hobbies, and it is easy to begin a conversation with each other. I will definitely be back there again.
Here’s what I learned from this whole experience:
- Google is your friend. Seriously, you can find anything online these days.
- Websites with reviews and photos are super helpful. It gives you a better idea of what to expect.
- Don’t be afraid to just go for it! Sometimes the best way to find something is to explore in person.
- Most people are welcoming. Don’t be afraid to join a pickup game, even if you don’t know anyone.
So yeah, that’s how I found a basketball stadium near me. It was a bit of an adventure, but it was totally worth it. Now I have a go-to spot to play some ball whenever I want, and I’ve even made a few new friends in the process. So, go find the basketball court near you!
