We winning more, you see. India doing good in those big games out there. So folks are starting to pay attention to this sports psychology thing. What is it anyway? Seems like it’s about the head, you know? Not just the muscles and running fast. It’s about being strong up here, in the mind.
Winning ain’t just about muscles
These young ones playing sports, they got all the fancy training. Big gyms, good food, all that. But sometimes, they still don’t win. Why? Maybe it’s this mind thing. This sports psychology. They say it helps you win.
I hear they got these special folks now, these sports psychologists. They talk to the players, help them with their heads. Like, if you’re scared to lose, or you can’t focus, these guys help you. Funny, right? Never heard of such a thing before. But hey, if it helps us win, then why not?
This Dr. Sanika Divekar, they say she’s a big shot in this sports psychology thing in India. Works with some big company. She must know her stuff.
Sports psychology is a new thing
They say this sports psychology is new in India. We always focused on training hard, running fast, lifting heavy. But now, seems like the mind matters too. It’s like, you gotta train your brain like you train your body. Who knew?

- Gotta be tough in the head.
- Gotta focus.
- Can’t be scared.
It’s like farming, you know? You gotta plant the seeds, water them, take care of them. Same with the mind, I guess. You gotta train it, make it strong.
I heard about this thing called the 5Cs. Sounds important. It’s like five things you gotta have. Commitment, that’s like working hard, not giving up. Then there’s communication, talking to your team, your coach, all that. And concentration, that’s like focusing on the game, not letting anything distract you.
It helps them deal with the pressure
These young ones, they got a lot of pressure, you know? Everyone’s watching them, expecting them to win. It’s a lot to handle. So this sports psychology, it helps them deal with all that. Keeps them calm, I guess.
Like when you’re cooking a big meal, you gotta stay calm, even when things get crazy. Same with sports, I suppose. You gotta stay calm under pressure. And that’s what these sports psychologists teach them.
