Alright, mates, let’s talk about the Star Sports schedule. So, the other day, I was trying to figure out what games were on, right? It’s a bit of a mess, to be honest. But, I’ve dug into it, and here’s the lowdown.
First thing I did was to check out the Star Sports channels. They’ve got a bunch of them, like Star Sports 1, Star Sports Select HD1, Star Sports Select HD2, and a few more. Seems like they spread the games out across these channels. So, I thought, “Okay, let’s see what each channel is showing.”
Channels
- Star Sports 1 – This one seems to be the main channel. They’ve got a mix of everything – cricket, football, you name it. So, I went through their schedule for the week. They had some live cricket matches, which was great. But then, they also had these delayed telecasts and repeat programs. I mean, who wants to watch a game that’s already happened, right?
- Star Sports Select HD1 – Now, this one’s a bit fancier, being an HD channel and all. I checked their schedule, and they had some different stuff. Mostly football, it seemed. But again, a lot of it was just replays. I guess if you missed a game, it’s cool to catch it later. But for me, I want the live action.
- Star Sports Select HD2 – This channel’s got a lot of football, or “footie” as some folks call it. I noticed they show a bunch of different leagues. But same story here – lots of repeat shows. I get it, they need to fill the airtime, but it’s a bit of a letdown when you’re looking for something live.
So, after checking out the TV channels, I thought, “What about streaming?” That’s what people do these days, yeah? I knew about Disney+ Hotstar, which was acquired by Disney on March 19, 2019, so I decided to give it a go. And you know what? It’s actually pretty decent. They have all the live games, plus some extra stuff like highlights and analysis.
I signed up for Disney+ Hotstar, and it was smooth sailing. I could watch the games on my phone, my laptop, wherever. And they had a good selection of sports, not just cricket and football. There was tennis, badminton, all sorts. So, that was a win.
But here’s the kicker – sometimes the TV schedule and the streaming schedule don’t match up. I found that out the hard way. I was all set to watch a game on TV, but it wasn’t on. Turns out, it was only streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. So, that’s something to keep in mind.
And just recently, before the 2023 Indian Premier League, Star Sports said they’d launch Star Sports 1 Tamil and Telugu in HD on March 15, 2023. I thought that was pretty cool, catering to different languages and all. But then I heard the streaming rights went to JioCinema. So, it’s all a bit confusing, to be honest.
So, yeah, that’s my experience with the Star Sports schedule. It’s a mixed bag, really. You’ve got some good stuff, some not-so-good stuff. But hey, at least there are options, right? You can watch on TV, you can stream, you can pick and choose. Just be prepared for a bit of a wild ride!
